Cat More Sassy Than Classy?

Behavior consultations are designed to help with unwanted behaviors. Before resorting to undesirable outcomes like rehoming, let me help! A behavior consultation is more comprehensive than cat training and will get to the root of what's causing your cat's unwanted behavior. We'll go over environmental factors, human factors, your cat's history, and more to come up with a solution.

See below for more information on what a behavior consultation is, prices, and links to book sessions online. If you want to chat before booking, you can contact me via e-mail, text, or our contact form. You can also schedule a 15 minute call to ask any questions you might have or go over the process!

Behavior Consultations

Whether you are dealing with cats fighting, litter box problems, your cat biting you, scratching, excessive grooming, or another unwanted cat behavior, a behavior consultation is the way to go. You'll get a comprehensive assessment of your situation, an individualized behavior plan to address your cat's concerns, and a chance to ask any questions that you may have.

The process is individualized to your situation, but generally we first start by establishing why a behavior is occuring: Why is my cat biting? Why are my cats fighting? Why isn't my cat using the litter box? Figuring out the why allows us to target interventions specifically to address the problem rather than just guessing!

Having a cat with behavior problems is stressful enough as is so after we establish the underlying reasoning for the behavior, we'll work together to find a plan that works best with your needs while still making sure the behavior problem gets addressed. If difficult decisions need to be made, I'll be here to support you through that process as well!

Initial Consultation

The first step to determining how to help your cat is booking an initial consultation. We'll go over your cat's history and behavior in depth and figure out what the root cause of the problem is. Addressing the root cause allows us to not only address the problem now but prevent it in the future! We'll come up with an initial plan to start addressing the problem. As each situation is unique, we'll discuss follow up sessions when we meet.

Zoomies Session

Have a quick question about cats? Have a minor problem you want to address that doesn't need a full session? This is the option for you! Much like the zoomies in cats, this session is quick and will help get you the advice you need! You can also book this if you have just a few questions you want to ask or want to learn more about cats in general. Examples of problems that can be addressed in a short session include cats waking you up at night and your cat nibbling on your plants. Problems that would NOT be appropriate for this session include biting, litter box problems, fighting cats, or scratching. I'm happy to help clarify if you're not sure which route to go!

Follow Up Sessions

I strongly prefer people book multiple sessions. Why? I like to work with you over time to make sure we're really addressing the problem! It ultimately helps you and your cats to do multiple sessions rather than just one session.

Follow up sessions are 60 minutes and billed hourly at $115 per hour. However, because it is ultimately better for your cat, I offer a special hourly rate for folks who book multiple sessions at once! Follow up between sessions is included for people who book follow up sessions, too, so you get even more support!

Travel Fee

Most of the time, virtual consultations are a great way to do an assessment. My prices are set based on virtual sessions. However, there may be reasons where it makes sense for me to come by your home for a consultation (or you may just prefer an in-home consultation!). This involves extra time and travel expenses so an additional fee of $30 will be charged to account for this. If you are outside my service area, an additional fee may be charged to account for the additional travel time and expense. Travel fees are due at booking and are non-refundable.

Current service areas for in person appointments include Minneapolis, St. Paul, St. Louis Park, Golden Valley, New Hope, Brooklyn Center, Maple Grove, Plymouth, Fridley, Columbia Heights, New Brighton, Fridley, Crystal, Robbinsdale, St. Anthony, Lauderdale, Roseville, Falcon Heights, Arden Hills, Edina, Minnetonka, Woodbury, White Bear Lake, Shoreview, Maplewood, and surrounding suburbs. Note that this area is subject to change so please ask if you're interested in an in person appointment.

Virtual appointments can be conducted for those in greater Minnesota or anywhere in the United States!
