P&P’s Favorite Things: A Holiday Gift Guide From THE Class Act Cats

If you’re new to Class Act Cats’ blog, you may not be familiar with Poutine and Prozac. They’re the sweet Siamese dudes who really run the show around here. Because they need to earn their keep a bit around here, I decided it was time to put them to work writing for my blog.

Unfortunately, I quickly was reminded that they can’t type. Instead, I decided to interview them to share what some of their favorite cat products are. The opinionated and chatty duo that they are, they were more than happy to share their thoughts on what you should get your cats this holiday season.

The Cheese Fort And Other Fun Toys

We should start out talking about a very popular place to lounge and play. It’s the cheese fort. Professional Zachary insisted I start with this one. “It’s the best!”

‘Zac is living that cheese life.

The cheese fort is a simple, modifiable rug that allows your cats to tumble around as they play, pounce on toys that you poke through the holes in the fort, or just curl up when they’re tuckered out. It’s made of a sturdy-but-soft felt material that has little buttons on it so you can snap it in a few different arrangements. Sprinkle a little silver vine powder on it and your cats will be having a good time!

If your cat has plenty of places to play but still loves cheese, maybe a cheese scratcher or a cheese wedge filled with mice? Prozac also insisted I mention Churu’s chicken with cheese flavor.

Cheeseless Toys

If your cat is lactose intolerant, maybe stay away from the cheese and instead go for these cute little monsters. “I especially love pretending to rip their limbs off,” Poutine commented. “They make a satisfying crinkle as you hold them between your paws, but really it’s yanking on the strings that fills me with joy.”

If your cat wants to yank on strings, the Wiggle Wand is a huge hit around here. I can’t even touch it without causing a small riot. And of course there’s the evergreen Cat Dancer. Both have the full endorsement of Poutine and ‘Zac!

Learn To Play With Your Cat

Oh, and if you don’t think your cat isn’t interest in play? Think again! You probably need to change how you’re playing with them. Both dudes mentioned how much they appreciated me reading Mikel Delgado’s Play With Your Cat this last year. It’s entertaining, informative, and very practical. You’ll learn something new to get your kitty playing like a kitten again.

The ‘Nip Made Easy

The cat named after a pharmaceutical was very insistent that I include catnip as a recommendation directly from him. This gift guide is technically from The Dudes, so I guess I have to…

If your cat is a catnip cat, they’ll appreciate some extra strength catnip powder or catnip and silver vine mixed powder. If they’d like a real treat, why not get them a hydroponic-ish herb garden? Just toss out the herbs for you and replace them with some catnip pods. Your cat will be purring happily soon enouh!

Not Actually A Toy, But…

While I tried to convince him otherwise, Poutine insists that water fountains get placed in this section. While he does drink from ours sometimes, he’s more often seen pawing at the stream of water. And you know what? As long as it doesn’t get on the floor, I’m just glad he’s having fun.

While I have a full guide on picking out a good fountain, my biggest suggestion is going for a stainless steel fountain. They’re easier to clean so they don’t get gross when your cat drinks or, if your cat is Poutine, plays with the fountain.

Side note: Try entering my exclusive discount code CLASS15 at checkout if you go with a PetLibro water fountain. I have a feeling you might notice a bit of money disappear from your total cost…

Cozy Spots To Rest

What cat doesn’t like to rest in soft, luxurious warmth? Definitely not our Chief Whisker Officer. He loves lounging in his heated cat bed from K&H Pet Products.

“Make sure you share the cute photo of me, human.” Little does he know that’s every photo of him.

As soon as the temperature drops, Prozac spends his evenings staring out the window as a big, toasty cinnamon bun. The bed is shaped to keep cats feeling safe and secure while not heating up too much so they don’t ACTUALLY turn into some sort of baked good.

If you want something that’s not quite as warm, a cardboard oval scratcher can be just as comfort for cats. Both of my guys love lounging in theirs. We have two located in my office for when they are “helping” me work.

And Perch

Poutine has been a big fan of their big holiday gift from last year, a Catit Cubo Tower. It’s a nice medium height tower that has a simple design and soft cushion for them to sit on. The top of the perch is the clear favorite spot that Poutine occasionally will share with his brother.

“Just tell them to get one for each cat,” Poutine suggests.

One of my favorite cat products this year… Oh? What’s that? You only care about The Dudes’ opinions? Well, thankfully all involved approve of the Desk Nest.

Especially Poutine.

The Desk Nest is an above the desk cat bed that you clamp onto the side of your desk. It doesn’t take up space on top of your desk so your cat gets a cozy spot to lounge while you work. It could also be used on an end table or somewhere else in your house, too, as long as you can clamp it on. Regardless, ‘Zac recommends getting one for each cat if you have multiple cats because both of mine are often in use at the same time.

Keeping Life Easy

Of course, sometimes life requires chores. Neither cat seems to believe this as “we never have to do anything besides look cute,” but I have a feeling they don’t quite get how much I do for them. For example, keeping their litter box clean requires scooping. My secret? The Litter Genie. I can do drive by scooping when I have time so I usually scoop 3 times a day.

“We do notice that you get rid of the poo in a timely manner,” Poutine admits. “Thank you for transporting our poop away from our sensitive paws.”

Snacks Delivered On Demand

Of course, both of my guys care more about the “ingredients” for their poop than me getting rid of it. They both suggested an automatic feeder as they “make the snacks appear like magic.” Both Poutine, who needs to lose a bit of weight so clearly he likes his food, and ‘Zac love their automatic feeder from PetLibro.

“Give them the discount code,” Poutine demanded as I asked him about this one. He’s referring to the 15% off you can get on PetLibro’s website with the Class Act Cats exclusive discount code CLASS15 through 12/31/24. “It’s not good for accessories, but you can get a magic snack machine with it. Snacks make great holiday gifts.”

Even Wet Snacks

If your cat gets wet snacks only, don’t you worry: PetLibro’s Polar Wet Food Automatic Feeder is the solution for you! I have one and everyone around here enjoys it. I’ve had many, many clients get it, too, and it makes life so much easier. It’s refrigerated so no need to freeze anything to keep your cat’s food at a safe temperature and cat store 3 meals at a time. You can even program exactly when the wet snacks will appear.

“It’s like magic,” Prozac says. “Delicious magic.”

On Their Wishlist

Of course, The Dudes have a few things they’re hoping to get this year. Because both my cats and I can be a bit extra at times, The Dudes are really hoping Santa Paws brings them an LED scratching post from Omlet. It’s a fun conversation piece and meets the criteria of what cats like to scratch.

Speaking of Omlet, their freestyle cat tree. It’s completely customizable and looks so cool in folks’ homes. My clients who have gotten one have loved them. “Why don’t we have one yet, male human who feeds me?” Poutine quipped, ignoring his six other cat trees. “I want a customized cat tree as unique as I am!”

For ‘Zac? He’s a simple dude. He just wants to curl up this cute fishbone toy.

Well… Hopefully their holiday wishes can come true. Even if they don’t, we’ll be making a lot of holiday memories together and getting a few festive paw prints to remember our time together. Hopefully P&P have inspired you to pick up something fun for your kitty. Wishing you a happy holiday season!
